Saikung personal trainer Pam Beech is teaming up with Bruce Foreman of Saikung based cycle-touring company Bike Aways to offer strength and conditioning training in preparation for a new series of bike rides trips offered in the hill country of Nepal.
“Cycling in Nepal is not as hard as it sounds, but some training does make a huge difference,” says Bruce who ran Bike Aways first trip from Kathmandu to Pokhara last November.
Bike Aways prides itself on offering non-hardcore bike trips that are more cultural than physical… but this is Nepal and there are a lot of hills. A bit of preparation goes a long way in increasing your enjoyment of the ride.
“Don’t worry if you can’t get on your bike to train before your trip. Strength training and conditioning is much more efficient than bike training alone,” says Pam, who will be joining the next Nepal ride from Ghorka to Pokhara on April 5th to 11th.
Pam will be offering Saikung-based group training sessions each Monday night in March at 7.30 pm in the lead up to the trip in April. Already a bargain at HKD 130 per person, these classes will be offered free for those who sign up for the Bike Aways Nepal ride in April.
